ADI HISTORY
ADI was founded in October, 1959, by Frank P. Macartney. Mr. Macartney began his interest in aviation learning to fly at the age of 15 in St. Paul, Minnesota, and served in the U.S. Air Force as a jet fighter pilot during the Korean conflict. Soon after his return to civilian life, Mr. Macartney founded ADI at the former Pontiac Airport, now known as Oakland County International Airport (OCIA), strategically locating the aviation business near the growing automotive executive suburbs in northwest Detroit. In 1963, after three years representing Piper Aircraft, ADI entered into a long-term association with Beech Aircraft Corporation (Raytheon Corporation today) as a distributor of aircraft, parts and maintenance services to customers in the State of Michigan. Since its inception, ADI has enjoyed an outstanding reputation in general aviation.

In 1988, ADI acquired PDQ Air Services, a strong competitor on the same field, and relocated to its present facilities. This acquisition allowed ADI to significantly expand its workforce, facilities and services; and positioned the company soundly for future growth and opportunity. ADI offers a full line of aviation support including aircraft maintenance, avionics repair, interior refurbishment, international charter and shuttle operations, flight management, fuel/ground support and aircraft brokerage. ADI is authorized by the Federal Aviation Administration as a FAR 145 Repair Station, and as a FAR 121/135 Air Carrier with Department of Transportation economic authority to operate an Airbus A319 for domestic and international charter. ADI is recognized as a world leader in corporate shuttle management operations with more than 200,000 passenger segments per year.

Although the aviation environment has changed dramatically since 1959, ADI has consistently grown to meet customer demand; and that same commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction remains the hallmark of ADI’s success today.
